Metro for all

A community website and mobile app that makes it possible to check the availability of any connection via metro taking into consideration architectural barriers!

We believe that all subway commuters may benefit from our project. The largest obstacles in moving around subway are faced by people on wheelchairs. For them any stairs or escalator are an obstacle that is simply insurmountable without aid of another person – and the possibility to move around unassisted is very important for many people.

But we wanted to do away with stereotypes. Whenever someone talks about accessibility, they think about elderly people and people with disabilities. Rarely does anybody consider parents with prams – during the process of mapping we passed many moms bravely carrying prams with a small passenger up or down the stairs – and that is a matter concerning each and every one of us. If you are going on vacation and are carrying heavy suitcases or oversize baggage or need to get your broken bike to a repair shop or if you have been caught in the storm while cycling, when you twisted your ankle and need to use crutches for the next two weeks. Such situations really change our perspective.
